Wedding DJ Questionnaire

This is everything DJ Yogi needs to run your reception the way you picture it. Fill it out before our planning call on Zoom, with all of your songs chosen. Bring any times and details you’ve received from the banquet facility too. If you need help picking music, ask and you’ll get the Dropbox link with formal-dance song ideas.

Your answers save in this browser as you type, so you can close the page and come back. When you’re done, press Build my answers at the bottom to send everything in one message.

2

Ceremony music

Only if we’re playing your ceremony. The DJ plays about half an hour of seating music while guests arrive; you don’t have to choose it, but you can. We suggest the Vitamin String Quartet mix (popular songs as orchestral strings) and guests respond well to it.

Please give the DJ a printed script for the ceremony. Following along with the officiant makes the cues much cleaner.

3

Cocktail hour

Music stays at a low volume so guests can talk. Choose one mix, or tell us you’re sending your own music.

4

Introductions

Order is typically the same as the processional at the ceremony. We recommend first names only for the bridal party; it makes the room feel more intimate.

Announce guests can request songs
Announce the photo booth
Announce guest book / picture frame
Shout-out to grandparents & parents
Family to recognize (names exactly as they should be announced)

Example shout-out: “Can everyone please put their hands together for the grandparents and parents of the bride and groom for helping make this wedding possible!”

Bridesmaids

Groomsmen

5

Cake cutting & toasts

We recommend cutting the cake right after introductions, while guests are paying attention. The hall can slice it during dinner so it’s served right after.

6

Dinner

Low volume for conversation. Dinner typically takes an hour, followed by the special dances.

Dinner mix
7

Special dances

The bridal party may join the first dance or have a separate song.

Announcements & the last song

Tell us what to announce and when.

Announce late-night snack
15-minute photo booth warning
Announce shuttle times
Announce last call for alcohol

Vendors & notes for the DJ

So we can coordinate with the room and keep the floor moving.

Okay to take song requests from guests?
If a song is killing the floor, can the DJ fade it out, even a guest request?
From your own playlist as well?
10

The music

Pick the genres you like and the ones your guests will like. A variety keeps everyone dancing. List up to about 20 requested songs so the DJ has room to read the floor and take requests on the night.

Genres to play
Primary song requests (optional, up to 12 here; add more in the notes)
Do-not-play songs
Only-by-request songs
Line dances to play

Done? Build your answers, itinerary and MC script.

This turns everything above into three things: your answers, a draft timeline for the night from the DJ’s arrival to the last song, and the MC script showing exactly how your family and bridal party will be introduced. Read the script out loud; if a name or a line should change, change it here and build again. DJ Yogi finalizes all of it with you on the planning call.
